Peconic Bay Medical Center
New Surgical Pavilion
Lizardos designed the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems for a new 40,000sf, two story surgical pavilion for the Peconic Bay Medical Center. The pavilion serves as a home for the Hospital’s Center for Advanced Surgical Services including orthopedic, colorectal, oncology and advanced laparoscopic surgeries, and technologically advanced surgery that demands advanced procedures. This 25 million dollar expansion to the existing hospital located in Riverhead, NY was completed in March 2009.
The two story building houses six state-of-the-art operating rooms, recovery and post anesthesia care units on the second floor and an 18 bed Acute Rehab Center on the first floor. Lizardos designed the Nurses’ Call System for the surgical pavilion as part of the electrical design. The system was designed and specified to be a Rauland System to seamlessly integrate with the Nurses’ Call System in the main Hospital. The system provided bidirectional communication between nurse consoles, bedside control stations, staff control stations, duty-control stations, sub-stations, patient speaker/call cords and corridor dome lights. The system was also integrated through telephone line interface to link three, two-way analog telephone lines for staff use to bedside control stations via wired or wireless telephone systems.
