Central Boiler Plant Upgrades and Underground Steam and Condensate Piping Replacement
Staten Island, NY

The three existing 600-BHP high pressure steam fire tube boilers serving the facility were failing and one was completely inoperable.  A temporary 600-BHP outdoor boiler was required and was in place for many years until budget allowed for a complete boiler plant replacement.

Lizardos has currently completed the plant upgrade including, but not limited to the following:

  • Two (2) 600-BHP high pressure steam fire tube boilers
  • One (1) 300-BHP high pressure steam fire tube boiler
  • Packaged deaerator and boiler feed water system
  • Blow-down separator
  • Packaged condensate receiver/pump unit
  • Controls upgrade and tie-in to BAS

In addition, replacement of the existing underground steam and condensate distribution piping from the boiler plant to the Seton and Fitzpatrick Buildings were completed as the second phase of the plant upgrade.  New piping was pre-insulated and replaced in parallel with the existing piping to minimize downtime of service to the facility during the installation.
